Gentle Dental Care, Starting from Their Very First Tooth

We love caring for kids - and we’re here for your child as early as their first birthday. Our team is experienced in treating young patients with empathy, patience, and a gentle approach, helping them feel at ease from the moment they walk through the door.

We believe a positive first dental experience lays the foundation for lifelong oral health. That’s why our team takes the time to make your child’s visit playful, relaxed, and completely stress-free. Before any examination begins, we will take the time to introduce your child to the dental environment to ensure they feel safe and comfortable.

Many of our offices feature TV screens at each chair, so your child can watch their favourite show during their checkup. We also encourage you to bring a toy or stuffed animal of their choice for that little extra comfort and reassurance.

Why Baby Teeth Matter

Your child’s primary teeth, also known as their baby teeth, play a key role in their early development. They help your child:

  • Chew and speak clearly

  • Maintain proper spacing for adult teeth

  • Develop healthy oral hygiene habits early on

Losing baby teeth too early can lead to alignment issues with permanent teeth later on, which is why preventive care is so important.

When Do Baby Teeth Come In?

Babies typically begin teething between 6–12 months of age, and by age 3, most children will have all 20 primary teeth.

If your baby seems irritable or in pain during teething, try:

  • Gently rubbing their gums with a clean finger or damp gauze

  • Offering a cool spoon or teething ring

  • Booking a visit with our dental team to rule out other causes

When Should My Child See the Dentist?

We recommend booking your child’s first dental visit by their first birthday or within six months of their first tooth appearing - whichever comes first.

This early visit serves as a “well-baby checkup” for their teeth. We’ll:

  • Gently welcome them to our dental offices and help them feel comfortable

  • Examine their gums and teeth

  • Discuss how to brush and care for their teeth at home

  • Evaluate and advise on thumb-sucking or bottle habits

  • Answer any questions you (or they!) may have
