Restore Function, Strength, and Confidence to Your Smile

If you have damaged or missing teeth, crowns and bridges are effective, long-lasting solutions that restore both appearance and bite function. At View Dental, we provide custom-made restorations tailored to your needs - offering natural-looking, durable results you can count on.

What Is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown (or “cap”) is used to fully cover a damaged or weakened tooth, restoring its strength, shape, and appearance. Crowns can also be placed on dental implants or used to anchor a bridge.

Crowns may be recommended to:

  • Cover and protect a fractured or weak tooth

  • Replace a large filling when not enough tooth remains

  • Restore a tooth after root canal treatment

  • Improve the appearance of discoloured or misshapen teeth

  • Complete a dental implant restoration

  • Support a dental bridge

Crowns can be made from porcelain, ceramic, gold, metal alloys, or porcelain fused to metal, depending on function, location, and aesthetic goals.

What Is a Dental Bridge?

A bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring to the natural teeth or implants on either side of the gap. The supporting teeth, called abutments, are crowned to hold a replacement tooth (called a pontic) in place.

Why consider a bridge?

  • Prevent remaining teeth from shifting

  • Restore your ability to chew and speak clearly

  • Maintain your facial shape and bite alignment

  • Reduce the risk of gum disease and TMJ problems

Like crowns, bridges can be made from porcelain, ceramic, or metal alloys, and are carefully matched to the colour of your natural teeth.

How Are Crowns and Bridges Made?

  1. Your tooth is reduced in size so that the crown or bridge will fit over it properly.

  2. A precise dental impression is taken to provide an exact mold for the crown or bridge.

  3. A temporary crown or bridge is placed to protect your tooth

  4. Your final crown or bridge is custom-fabricated in a dental lab

  5. At a follow-up visit, the temporary crown is removed and the final restoration is permanently cemented in place

Your dentist will work closely with you to choose the right material, shade, and design to achieve a comfortable and natural-looking result.

How Long Do Crowns and Bridges Last?

With proper care, crowns and bridges can last a lifetime. Longevity depends on your oral hygiene, bite habits, and routine dental visits.

To protect your restoration:

  • Brush twice daily with fluoride toothpaste

  • Floss around crowns and bridges daily

  • Avoid chewing hard foods such as ice

  • Schedule regular cleanings and check-ups with your dentist and hygienist
